23. Mentoring matters – Part 10

Titus 2:1-8

“As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching. 2 Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience. Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. 4 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, 5 to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely. 7 And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.”

A.        Love their children –

Make your children a priority and see them as a privilege not a pain. While the world wants to put the emphasis on your career, the Word put the emphasis on your children. Its not about what you possess but what you pass on. Today we have a lot of whinny women because they are trying to find their happiness in looking good instead of in loving God and their families.

“To much love never spoils children, children become spoiled when we substitute presents for presence – Dr. Anthony Witham. Ladies do you view your children as a blessing or a burden? Because the way that you talk to your children will become their inner voice, Go away, stop bothering me, or you can do it.

  1. Live self-Controlled Lives and long for purity –

Don’t give in to the peer pressure of ungodly passion. What appears to be a harmless glance can turn to romance. Guard your heart, don’t trade it for treasure, as payment for pleasure.

  1. Focus on your family

The call for women to work in their homes does not mean that the bible is against women having a career. Remember the woman in Proverbs 31 spends a fair amount of time outside the home, buying and selling. The point is don’t get so caught up in business that you forget to be a blessing at home. It’s not about the pursuit of riches or recognition its relationships.

  1. Lead with Kindness –

Women we can be mean. Remember Paul doesn’t just spell out the responsibilities he reminds us of the reason: The world is watching, women what kind of a witness will they see? Do you resemble a woman of the world or a women of the Word. Ladies it’s not about being hot it’s about being holy. Because no matter how hot the world says you are that oven is cooling down your looks are going to fade but your love and your legacy doesn’t have to. Ladies what kind of a legacy are you going to leave, will it be one of love for the Lord and love for your family or will it be a love for the world?
